Statement
The purpose of my collection is to explore and elaborate upon the properties of metal by way of ambiguously natural, sculptural forms.
Through my examination of metal’s capacity to mirror and mold to its environment- by way of light, heat, and texture- I'm able to communicate the relationship between the material and the natural, including oneself.
To express this I choose to create wearable pieces. A wearable piece, allows the intention of the piece to deepen. Jewelry, in particular, is an intimate form of self expression- a way of communicating who you are. To wear a piece of jewelry is to take thought into your presentation and intentionally define yourself as living and changing.
Ultimately, I intend to draw attention to the aspect of metal to be fluid and transforming even when stationary and inanimate- its this quality of metal that mirrors the fluctuations and mutations that are shared amongst all living things.
